FTP thru DHCP should connect from PC to your xbox successfully. Once everything is set, click apply and connect.
You can use other ftp program but I prefer flashfxp. As for the sounds, no idea why your softmod would have removed the C:Audio folder. Unhelpfully named the Custom option plays only music from the path designated ie. You need to change that setting to 'Both'. If you can connect to internet mean it will work. With it set to 'Xbox' it will only play music from the Xbox Custom Soundtracks folder. Also make sure your PC is connected online successfully.
